Update

Kelate announced that it will no longer sell Laksam and Nasi Kerabu effective Oct. 18 onwards, and will instead prioritise on its new menu.

Today (Oct. 17) will be the last day to get those dishes.

It is unclear if this switch will be permanent.

New menu launch

Kelate is launching a new menu on Oct 18, 2021.

The homegrown hawker stall specialising in Kelantanese cuisine teased the new items on social media today.

Less than a year of its initial opening at Toa Payoh Lorong 4, the stall run by Malaysian actress Sasqia Dahuri has moved to its current location at Beo Crescent.

While the OG dishes like Laksam, Mee Celup and Nasi Kerabu still remain, the new dishes offer more variety for fans of food from the east coast Malaysian state.

Here are the new dishes:

This cheery dessert is made of rice pudding with glutinous rice, coconut milk and gula melaka. It is typically served as a sweet ending to celebratory meals, usually during Hari Raya.

New opening hours

When Kelate first opened early this year, long queues spilling out of the hawker centre were a common sight as Malaysians who miss food from home and curious foodies alike thronged the stall.

It was common for the stall to be sold out way before its closing time.

The huge demand for its offerings is perhaps what spurred Kelate to change their opening hours.

Starting Oct. 18, the new opening hours will be from 11.30am to 8pm, instead of 10am to 5pm currently.

Here’s hopinh there’ll be enough stock to last throughout the day this time.
