Amongst the numerous F&B options located in Changi Airport Terminal 3 is the Kopitiam food court.
And out of the plethora of food options on sale, there’s one halal stall that stands out:
Yu Ni Xiang Yu is a halal-certified stall specialising in Chinese-style grilled fish.
Hailing from Chongqing, a city in southwestern China famous for introducing the world to the spicy mala hot pot, Chongqing grilled fish is a delectable Chinese delight designed to please those with a penchant for bold flavours.
This dish commonly features a whole fish, meticulously prepared to lie flat on a metal platter, surrounded by a robust broth, fragrant seasonings, and frequently accompanied by a variety of vegetables.
Unlike mala, halal versions of this type of grilled fish are still a rarity in Singapore so we’re happy to discover this hidden gem in Changi Airport!
The menu
Undeniably, the must-have dish here has to be the Sichuan Pepper Grilled Sea Bass (S$19.90) made with “30 spices and veg in the soup base and a strong mala taste infused in the fish”.
Solo diners need not worry about forking out a large sum of money for a meal. This Hot & Spicy Boneless Fish (S$10/.90) is a relatively cheaper option suitable for one pax.
However, if you’re more of a beef person, the Beef Lamian would be right up your alley.
