Nestled within Food Folks, a concept retailer of local brands in Lau Pa Sat, newly halal-certified Muffintory specialises in muffins made from a pandemic staple, sourdough.
Yes, we never imagined there’d be sourdough muffins but turns out this relatively new brand by The Soup Spoon did.
Prices range from S$1.90 for a Chocolate Chip Muffin to S$2.90 for more unique flavours like the Ruby Matcha Raspberry White Chocolate Chip Muffin.
The takeaway-only bakery predominantly features an open-air kitchen where the muffins are made, whilst a minimalistic glass case displays the heavy-set muffins in all their glory.
Here are some highlights from its menu.
Coco Chocolate Chip, S$1.90
Penny Cinnamon with Mixed Fruits, S$2.00
Domino Triple Chocolate Chip, S$2.40
Kookie Oreo® Chocolate Chip, S$2.60
Kookie Ruby Matcha Raspberry White Chocolate Chip, S$2.90
Also available in boxes of 2, 4 and 6 muffins
Getting just one muffin back to the office risks you getting the side-eye by envious colleagues, so thankfully Muffintory can pack these goodies in multiples of 2, up to six per box.
Share them with your friends or keep them all to yourselves, we won’t judge.
Also, the prices may vary depending on which muffins you choose.
Box of 2, S$3.80 – S$5.80
Box of 4, S$7.60 – S$11.60
Box of 4, S$7.60 – S$11.60
How do sourdough muffins differ from regular muffins?
Honestly, we don’t know. Reviews online so far seem to agree that the muffins are “soft and moist” with “chunky toppings“, although the jury is still out on how sourdough features a more prominent role in the overall taste.
If we had to hazard a guess, there could possibly be a tiny bit of tang from the sourdough starter.
Don’t knock it till you try it, man.
