Move aside pasar malam and Geylang Serai bazaar, festivals are back in a big way. And kicking off the party in June is Gastrobeats.
Happening from 3 – 26 June, the music and food festival will be the largest public event post-pandemic, covering over 14,200 square metres at the Bayfront Event Space.
Despite the insane local music lineup stacked with food-themed bouncy castles, and breathtaking moments, you’d easily find us savouring arguably the most memorable parts of Gastrobeats – the food! And lucky us, there are A LOT of halal options.
For a taste of what the halal vendors are bringing to the festival, read on!
Ah Lim Nasi Lemak
Strap yourself in for good ol’ nasi lemak, mee siam goreng and other local faves. This Chinese-Muslim owned vendor offers the perfect comfort food for those cool festive nights.
Big Boy Franks
What’s a festival without hotdogs and burgers amirite? These two-handed soul food creations are available at Big Boy Franks who will be sharing the space with @matjagung_sg where you’ll discover a corn-filled menu of corn ribs, nachos and more.
Haig Road Putu Piring
If you know – you know! Michelin-recommended Road Putu Piring serves unassuming snacks made of rice flour, gula melaka and shredded coconut. And, now under the tents of Gastrobeats, fetival-goers can experience their food on a whole new level.
Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang
Another Michelin-recognised brand, this homegrown hawker is where you should be to refuel on a serving of Nasi Lemak crafted from an age-old recipe of ancient Taliwang, Indonesia. Get more sambal to dial up the heat!
Praffles
For conversational food that is as confusing as it is delicious, try the prata-waffle hybrid creations at Praffles. With toppings such as chilli crab and truffle cheese, the portions are hearty but you still won’t want to share.
Rancho Meats
Whether you like your beef ribeye slices on brioche buns, in wraps, or in bowls, Rancho Meats are sure to quelch the hunger pangs. This Muslim-owned operation is fresh, passionate about their meats, and always right on point.
T Bob’s Corner
If their recent showing at the recent LalooLalang bazaar is any indication of what they’ll bring to Gastrobeats, you can expect meat specialists T Bob’s Corner to fire up ayam percik, beef ribs, lamb racks, burgers and more.
The Leaf Co
From pasta to sliders, The Leaf Co is an events-based crew offering dishes like Rendang Penne with Smoked Duck and Lemak Chili Padi Pasta with Beef Steak. Just don’t let your purist mother see this.
Tiga Folks & Co.
Succulent meat all around, Tiga Folks & Co.’s lamb ribs and roast beef explode with juicy flavour. The portions are massive too, making it perfect in all those times when you’ve been dancing your heart out and need to catch up on calories.
Waffl
This Muslim-owned Jurong East dessert cafe will be serving up buttermilk waffl with sweet and savoury toppings, brownies, ice-cream more at the festival.
You Tiao Man
Launching their latest You Tiao range exclusively at Gastrobeats is You Tiao Man. If you fancy doughy snacks on a sticks, you’d wanna check this out for sure.
What else to see and do at Gastrobeats
Whilst we highly recommend eating your way through the festival, there are also other things worth checking out at Gastrobeats. Burn off all that calories at Jumptopia where gigantic food-themed inflatables designed as a patisserie, taco truck, burger joint, noodle bar, and more give new meaning to “playing with food”.
Alternatively, get your groove on at live performances from local artistes (lineup to be announced soon), take part in a Virtual Reality (VR) tournament, and try your luck at claw machines and other carnival games.
