Old Airport Road Food Centre is famous for its cheap and delicious local eats, including this halal Vietnamese stall by a Vietnamese Muslim.
Another gem we recently discovered is Ah Tas Muffins, which sells an unlikely product in a hawker centre: muffins!
Ah Tas Muffins at affordable prices
As its name suggests, Ah Tas Muffins is a bakery selling a variety of muffins. The MUIS halal-certified stall has over 14 different flavours of muffins in its menu, with new additions every now and then.
Interestingly, the prices are reasonably affordable too, befitting its location and not so much its name: prices start at S$1.90 for a Classic Raisin or Chocolate Chips muffin.
That said, the ingredients used here are high quality stuff; according to an interview, the owner said “Our butter is from Denmark, our couverture chocolate (which boasts higher cocoa butter content for a richer mouthfeel) from Italy, milk from Germany and walnuts from the States.”
The items are freshly made every day, and the stall only opens from 9am to 3pm. So we’d strongly advise to rush down early if you’re in the mood for muffins.

Famous Amos-style cookies
The muffinery isn’t all about muffins, though. The stall also sells bite-sized, crunchy cookies much like the ones you’d get at Famous Amos.
The little nuggets come in flavours like chocolate chips, dark chocolate, walnut, and dark choc macadamia.
Whether you’re on team muffin or team cookie, we can all agree that Ah Tas Muffins is an ideal place to grab freshly baked goodies to start the day with or for tea time treats.
